Power Generation Field Service Electrician

If you are QLD electrical licensed electrician looking to power up your career into heavy industrial equipment, we have the opportunity for you! Monday-Friday role servicing our power generation customers with day travel from Carole Park.

About the role

Working in a dedicated team of multi-disciplined technicians in our power generation team, you will be based out of our Carole Park branch servicing our power gen customers. Working independently on our customers sites, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Working on generator sets and engine control panels

  • Troubleshooting and diagnostics on engines up to 4MVA

  • Modifying wiring looms/diagrams, upgrading control systems

  • Commissioning of new generators/systems, transfer switches and master controllers

  • Working closely with the Mechanical Service team

  • Completing all work with a high focus on safety

  • Participate in an After Hours on call roster

About you

  • Current QLD electrical license (Mechanic/Fitter Mechanic) accreditation

  • Relevant electrical trades qualification

  • Previous field service experience and ability to build rapport quickly with clients

  • Previous industrial experience in an industrial factory as a senior or sole electrician

  • An in depth understanding of control systems (including PLC and relay logic)

  • The ability to interpret electrical schematics

  • Strong PC skills

  • Excellent team work and customer service skills

  • A current, valid driver’s license

  • The desire to learn and progress

  • Previous experience in Power Generation products would be highly regarded but is not essential

Diagnoses and completes less complex repairs to generators and components at the customer’s site.

Engages customers in a courteous and professional manner. Anticipates and ensures prompt and efficient attention to customer needs

Applies the use of specialized tools and follows documented procedures and policies to diagnose and complete less complex repairs, including identifying and preparing required parts and tools

Performs preventative maintenance activities as per documented schedules and standards on power generation products in the field

Escalates unresolved issues to more experienced Field Service Technicians and/or Supervisor

Completes required documentation, such as service worksheets, timesheets, warranty claims, quality documents via handwritten forms or business system input screens.

Completes training in line with skill and business requirements

Maintains service vehicle and tools for cleanliness and proper operation

Ensure adherence to all relevant Health Safety & Environmental policies, procedures and legislation and reports any issues / incidents to site management and to their supervisor
