In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

Reporting to the Service Engineering Manager, this position is based in our Perth branch supporting the WA region. This is a critical role in our HHP team providing on the ground support to our valued Mining Power Generation, Locomotive and Marine clients.

Responsibilities include:

  • Be the technical liaison between the Cummins field service organization and the Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing teams to proactively identify, define, and prioritize product issues and to implement both short-term and long-term solutions.

  • Lead the investigation of product or system problems, understands causal mechanisms, recommends appropriate action, and document results.

  • Support product problem solving on failed, compromised or under performing products to enable high-quality repairs.

  • Anticipate potential product or process issues in the field and delivers robust technical solutions.

  • Work with our branches to prepare service teams for new product support or repair and optimisation of existing products, confirming that parts and special tools are available, service information (including diagnostics) is accurate, with special care information ready for customers of new products.

  • Lead technical experts to make proactive engineering decisions, in the area of failure analysis and data trends, to implement final product resolutions to reduce customer downtime.

  • Support the product team in less complex issues, providing a point of escalation as required for more complex issues.

  • Manages and coaches others on large-scale development or issue resolution projects.

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Extensive, hands on experience with engines

  • Posses a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or significant expert level field service experience

  • Come from a Service Engineering, Engine Design or Engine Integration background (HHP highly regarded but not required).

  • Be highly skilled in data analysis and problem solving

  • Possess strong PC skills

  • Ability to develop strong customer relationships

  • A collaborative work approach, sharing knowledge with our wider field and product teams

  • Be an engineering mentor, actively developing junior engineers and engineering interns

  • Be available to travel up to 25% of the time across WA.
