About the role

Our Scoresby branch is offering a rare 13-month full time or part time undergraduate HSE Internship opportunity commencing 28th January 2020 for a current undergraduate HSE, HR, Engineering, Occ Health, Env Science or Applied Science student who is keen to utilise theoretical skills learnt in their degree and develop practical skills in HSE in the workforce. This is a unique opportunity to gain skills and knowledge while you are working full time or part time.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Some overseas travel across the NESE Asia region

  • Provide training and support to regional leaders on HSE systems and databases

  • Coordinating the development and drafting of training materials

  • Conducting research and investigation for projects in specific areas of Health, Safety and environment

  • Supporting the development of training packages and kits for the Regional leaders

  • Manage the flow of information or processes across international stakeholders

  • Track the completion of reporting and project scorecards on a monthly and quarterly basis with the Regional Health, Safety and Environment leaders

  • Contribute to the development and completion of projects

  • Preparing and publishing the monthly Health, Safety and Environment reports

About You:

To qualify for this undergraduate internship, it is essential that you:

  • Are currently studying an undergraduate Bachelor’s Degree in HSE, HR, Engineering, Occ Health Env Science or Applied Science

  • Have between 1 and 8 units of study left to complete of your undergraduate degree as of February 2020

  • Are available for the full 13 months and be willing to defer your studies for that duration if you elect to work full time

  • Possess Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency

Note: Applicants that do not meet these qualifying requirements unfortunately will not be considered.

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • A keen interest in developing your HSE knowledge to complement your HSE or non HSE Degree

  • Be available for some overseas travel with a current passport and no travel restrictions

  • Be interested in the development and delivery of projects

  • A confident, outgoing individual who will seek out necessary information to achieve set outcomes

  • Ability to engage and develop strong stakeholder relationships with a remotely located national team

  • Ideally have some experience travelling to NESE Asia, have second language skills or experience working with people with English as a second language

  • Clear communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Time management skills and ability to multi-task

  • An interest and willingness to learn and develop new skills in a diverse organisation

  • Ability to understand and maintain confidentiality

  • Strong computer literacy and a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite

  • Valid car driving license

This is a 13-month, full time or part time, paid placement and the successful candidate will be required to defer their studies for the duration of the program should they elect to work full time.
