We are looking for a talented and passionate Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in design of mechanical and structural systems related to engines or power generator sets. Our off-highway team delivers innovative solutions to our clients which include rail, marine and offshore platform applications, agricultural and construction equipment. The projects are delivered across the Asia/Pacific region. You will be an important member of our off-highway engineering delivery team, analysing requirements and providing concept design solutions to our clients, engaging in detailed design and analysis, management of work packages with subcontractors and suppliers, testing products before delivering successful projects.

This product and project delivery focused position applies specialized knowledge of engineering principles and design practices to create optimized design concepts and mechanical design specifications considering the application. Key development goals include cost, weight, performance, reliability, durability, manufacturing, assembly and serviceability.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Obtain input from stakeholders and negotiate with cross-functional and cross-discipline technical experts and senior-level designers, to set component and subsystem design intent.

  • Provide a summary of the requirements based on relevant ISO and national standards, industry regulations, Cummins procedures and customer requirements.

  • Provide design solutions for these projects from concept design to delivery.

  • Conduct detailed design and analysis of parts and subsystems.

  • Work closely with our applications engineers, mechanical engineers, drafters and third-party engineering support providers.

  • Packaging work and coordinating with sub-contractors.

  • Review and investigate the analysis and designs from our sub-contractors for best solution outcomes, accuracy and adherence to requirements.

  • Plan and supervise product verification and validation.

  • Drive the technical delivery of our projects and identify potential risks.

  • Utilise CAE (Creo and ANSYS) and PLM software (Windchill).

  • Develop strong communication lines and relationships with our customers and suppliers.

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • A Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering with previous experience working on the delivery of engine or gen set design projects.

  • Have a strong understanding of mechanical and structural design principles.

  • Be competent with operating latest engineering software (CAD, FEA, PLM, FMEA).

  • Be capable of delivery projects through their entire life cycle from concept design to final delivery.

  • Be a team player and, if required, provide help to broader team including team members, stake holders, subcontractors and customers.

  • Be genuinely interested in engineering design and able to conceptualize your ideas.

  • Be able to learn new skills.
