Description

We have a unique and exciting opportunity to join our payroll team as a Payroll Manager . In this role you will have leadership of a small team of Payroll professionals ensuring that Payroll is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Managing a team performing end to end payroll processing and perform quality control audits to ensure accuracy

  • Manage the preparation of all State and Federal tax obligations including PAYG tax, Payroll tax and Superannuation Guarantee contributions

  • Prepare and organise financial statements for filing and maintain detailed records for tax and audit purposes.

  • Attend education sessions on payroll legislation updates and review and improve payroll policies and procedures on an ongoing basis.

  • Provide advice and education to employees in relation to pay issues, award changes, new policies and resolve payroll enquiries in a professional manner

  • Manage Payroll liabilities through the accurate calculation of employee salaries and wages, taxes, superannuation, leave entitlements and workers compensation payments.

  • Comply with all local, state, and federal laws regarding finances, payroll, tax filings, and reporting.

  • Generate monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual reporting on earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, insurances, and non-taxable wages. Develop ad hoc financial and operational reporting as needed.

  • Interpret new legislation impacting Payroll and proactively advise the senior leadership team on appropriate action.

  • Manage Payroll, Time & Attendance and other systems, to ensure that all information and records are up to date and maintained in accordance with statutory requirements.

  • Ensure Payroll is processed in an accurate, compliant and timely manner and manage / resolve issues relating to Payroll production.

  • Develop and manage direct reports by ensuring all team members have performance and development objectives.

  • Provide guidance on attracting and developing talent for Cummins and co-ordinate activities to meet operational requirements.

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • 8 years of experience in Payroll, accounting, or a similar role.

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, human resources or a related field.

  • Experience using ADP PayForce and Kronos Payroll technology advantageous

  • Advanced Microsoft Office Suite and additional system knowledge a plus.

  • In-depth understanding of Payroll procedures, laws, taxes, insurances, and payroll legislation compliance for Australia and New Zealand

  • Comprehensive knowledge of Modern Awards and other state and industry legislation

  • Strong commitment to developing team members.

  • Problem solving skills

  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy

  • Strong leadership capability including motivating, engaging and developing a team to drive high performance

  • A strong continuous improvement mindset with experience driving positive change within Payroll

  • Strong stakeholder management skills including building and maintaining relationships, effective communication and consulting
