An exciting opportunity has presented for an experienced Payroll Manager to join our South Pacific HR Services team. You will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the payroll process. This includes ensuring accurate and timely payment of wages, processing payroll taxies and overseeing compliance with payroll regulations. You will directly contribute to the success of our organisation by ensuring the smooth operation of our payroll system
As our Payroll Manager, you will make a positive impact in the following ways:
Manages payroll operations, processing, and auditing of multiple payroll cycles
Develops processes to ensure accurate and timely delivery of payroll payments and reporting in alignment with applicable policies, legislation and internal procedures.
Develops and manages procedures for the preparation, documentation and disbursement of payroll checks, taxes, accounting transactions and employee benefit payments.
Manages the operational relationship with outside payroll service providers; manages system changes, upgrades, or government mandated changes to payroll.
Manages accurate and timely processing of year-end activities, including coordination with payroll services providers.
Ensures accuracy and completeness of payroll process documentation.
Ensures payroll processing and accounting activities comply with internal and external audit requirements, and coordinates responses to auditor inquiries.
Ensures that the data necessary for the filing of payroll-related tax reporting and miscellaneous withholding forms is gathered and submitted in a timely manner with the highest level of accuracy.
Ensures adequate internal controls on payroll systems and keeps current with compliance on new and existing tax and other payroll related legislation.
Coaches and mentors team members; manages staff by assigning work according to availability, skills, and developmental needs; assesses performance and provides feedback to direct reports.
Qualifications
To successfully be our Payroll Manager, you will have proven demonstration of the following competencies:
Lead our team – communicate effectively while providing training, guidance, and support to the team to ensure duties are performed effectively and efficiently.
Data accuracy - ensure completeness, accuracy and compliance with company policy and legislative requirements.
Payroll Administration - Translates company policies, tax and legislative requirements in the delivery of accurate and timely employee payments and reporting; ensures compliance with applicable regulations and internal control procedures.
Collaborates - Building partnerships and working collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives.
Communicates effectively - Developing and delivering multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences.
Customer focus - Building strong customer relationships and delivering customer-centric solutions.
Balances stakeholders - Anticipating and balancing the needs of multiple stakeholders.
Optimizes work processes - Knowing the most effective and efficient processes to get things done, with a focus on continuous improvement.
Ideal experience:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, human resources or related field
Proven experience as a National Payroll Manager preferably in a fast-paced medium to large-scale organisation.
Relevant Industry experience (e.g. familiar with the Modern Manufacturing Award).
Strong knowledge and understanding of payroll laws, regulations and best practices.Proficient in using payroll software and other relevant tools
Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to analyze data and identify patterns and discrepancies
Exceptional time management and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and meet strict deadlines
Candidates with broader Asia Pacific country knowledge and payroll experience will be preferred but not required.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (including intermediate level Excel skills).
