About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Supervisor to join our close-knit Darwin branch. This key appointment will be responsible for coordinating Truck Bay activities whilst providing direction to a team of dedicated technicians and apprentices.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor and coach 4 technicians and 2 apprentices

  • Manage repair strategy and the coordination of parts support

  • Take charge in allocating jobs to staff and ensure timely completion

  • Prepare documentation and present to admin for processing

  • Lead tool box meetings

  • Ensure tidiness and the upkeep of the workshop

  • Lead diagnostic support and escalation process improvement activities

  • Provide ‘hands-on’ support to workshop staff when required

About You:

To succeed in this role, you must have the following:

  • Proven supervisory/leadership experience with a strong technical background

  • Experience in an OEM or workshop environment

  • A Certificate III in Automotive Trade

  • Possess significant Heavy Diesel experience

  • Strong leadership and people management skills

  • Motivated towards developing a high caliber and professional team

Qualifications

Skills

Skill Level A

Level II Technician plus:

Ability to train Service Personnel to develop their diagnostic skills

Able to identify opportunities for work process improvements and recommend appropriate action

Able to develop and maintain productive working relationships

Ability to prepare reports providing feedback on service interventions

Skill Level B

Skill Level A plus:

Ability to identify and resolve engine system failures relating to and impacted by component failure

Ability to guide / coach other service technicians through complex service interventions and diagnostic issues

Can resolve complex technical problems

Ability to identify and up sell further service and repair opportunities.

Education, Licenses, Certifications

Apprentice Trained Engine Technician (Preferred)

Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution

Locally valid driving permit (Preferred)

Experience

Advanced level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products

Experience providing technical advice and coaching to more junior technicians (preferred)

Reporting to the Branch Manager, the successful applicant will be responsible for delivering a quality service which will exceed customers expectations by providing a high level of supervision to technicians and apprentices, ensuring quality repairs are carried out in a safe, efficient, and timely manner.
